Current Foundations at WCMC

We have several major initiatives to address devices and technology assessments and support innovations:

    1. Cornell’s Science and Infrastructure Center for Medical Device Epidemiology Network (MDEpiNet) under contract and grants from FDA-CDRH;
    2. Patient Centered Comparative Outcomes Research Program that is intertwined with MDEpiNet Center and funded in part by clinical departments at Cornell;
    3. International collaborative networks in the Orthopedic, Cardiovascular and Colorectal device areas.

Dr. Art Sedrakyan led the efforts and has extensive experience in medical device research and supervision. He is a trained CT surgeon and a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a PhD in Health Policy and Management. He was a senior adviser at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and also had appointments as senior service officer/senior adviser at the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). He has served on the US Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC) since 2010. Dr. Sedrakyan is also the Vice-Chair of the IDEAL Collaboration, which is a major international initiative devoted to innovation and evaluation with a special interest/leadership area in devices.
