Patient Centered Comparative Outcomes Research Program

 

The program initiates, conducts and collaborates on outcomes research and quality of care research within the interventional medicine and device context. The program utilizes the hospital and network for these studies in order to generate new knowledge about medical technologies and clinical strategies and to improve the quality and efficiency of care. The program has access to a number of datasets such as Medicare, New York State comprehensive discharge data, SEER-Medicare data for various cancer interventions, National Surgical Quality Improvement Program data as well as international registry data for various interventional procedures. Currently, there are five-six clinical departments are actively engaged in research.

  • Department of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery program. In the past 2 years (since inception) we have published or are in the process of publishing over 15 manuscripts.
  • Department of Vascular Surgery program. In the past year (since inception) we have published or are in the process of publishing over 6 manuscripts.
  • Department of Urology program. In the past 5 months (since inception) we have published or are in the process of publishing over 20 manuscripts.
  • Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery program. In the past 2 months (since inception) we have published or are in the process of publishing over 10 manuscripts.
  • Department of Neurosurgery program. New investigations started in January 2016.
  • Department of Radiology. New investigations started in January 2016.
  • Emerging Collaboration with MSK Radiology.
  • Separately, Dr. Sedrakyan also collaborated with and supervised interventional outcomes research with outside collaborators which resulted in over 55 publications in the past four years.
